Junkyard

Junkyard on Schlaegelstrasse in the Nordstadt district grew out of a former scrapyard and wears that heritage proudly. The location combines an indoor stage, beer garden, and open-air area into one of the most unusual event venues in the Ruhr region. Rusty metal sculptures, improvised seating, and raw industrial surroundings create an atmosphere that no renovated city-center bar can replicate.

The program is event-based and spans punk concerts and techno parties to art exhibitions and summer festivals with live music. The crowd is correspondingly diverse but generally left-leaning, alternative, and open-minded. Drink prices are deliberately kept low, and the vibe is uncomplicated — what matters here is the music, not the dress code.

In summer, the beer garden is the centerpiece, while in winter events move into the heated hall.
