Zum Silbersack
Bars & Clubs · Hamburg
Zum Silbersack has been a staple of Hamburg nightlife since 1949 and is one of the few bars to have survived the transformation of St. Pauli virtually unchanged. While new clubs and sleek cocktail bars pop up all around, the Silbersack remains exactly what it has always been: an honest corner pub with cheap beer, a loud jukebox, and a group of regulars who welcome every newcomer with open arms.
The interior has grown organically over the decades: stickers, posters, handwritten notes, and an assortment of memorabilia cover practically every available surface. The lighting is dim, the jukebox plays everything from Schlager to punk, and beer is poured at the small counter for just a few euros. The atmosphere feels like the living room of an eccentric uncle — and that is precisely the charm.
Open daily, the Silbersack is at its best in the late evening hours and on weekends. If you are searching for the real Kiez beyond the tourist traps, you have found it here. This is the place where dockworkers, artists, and night owls have been drinking together for over 75 years — and you can feel it in every second.
