Odonien
Bars & Clubs · Cologne
Odonien on Hornstraße is a place that arguably should not exist — a former scrapyard transformed by artist Odo Rumpf into a spectacular open-air art compound. Massive metal sculptures, fire-breathing installations, and raw industrial aesthetics form the backdrop for parties, concerts, art events, and festivals. In summer, Odonien is one of the most magical spots in Cologne.
The program is event-based and ranges from techno nights and medieval markets to experimental art performances. At the big summer parties, hundreds dance under open skies among steel sculptures while fire shows and light installations illuminate the night. The atmosphere is hard to put into words — a blend of Mad Max, Burning Man, and Cologne hospitality.
Drinks and entry are cheap; the experience is priceless. Odonien is not an every-night destination, but when events are on, there is hardly anything comparable in the city. The location near Ehrenfeld pairs well with the rest of the neighborhood's nightlife. Weatherproof clothing and an open mind are recommended — if you come here, be ready to be surprised.
