Kneitinger
Bars & Clubs · Regensburg
Kneitinger on Arnulfsplatz has been a cornerstone of Regensburg's beer culture since 1862 and remains one of the city's last independent breweries. Its claim to fame is the Kneitinger Dunkel, a full-bodied, malt-forward dark beer served exclusively here and at a handful of affiliated taps. The pub interior is quintessentially Bavarian: heavy wooden tables, regulars' corners, and a noise level that testifies to lively conversation. The Bavarian kitchen — pork knuckle, Obatzda, pretzels — pairs perfectly with the beer.
Prices are impressively fair, which also makes it popular with students. At lunchtime Kneitinger operates as a solid restaurant; in the evening a convivial pub atmosphere takes over and striking up a conversation with your table neighbor comes naturally. In summer the beer garden opens, ranking among the coziest in town. Visiting Regensburg without stopping at Kneitinger means missing a genuine piece of Bavarian brewery tradition.
